Under the lights of the Cairo International Stadium, the Red Eagles secured an impressive 6-1 victory over Algeria’s CR Belouizdad on Matchday 3 of the CAF Champions League group stage, sending Al Ahly to the top of Group C with seven points.
It was a strong start to the game with the Reds aiming to find the breakthrough but the visitors had the lead after 22 minutes through Aymen Mahious.
However, just seconds before the first half ended, our Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali leveled the score with an amazing finish, making it 1-1 going into halftime.
In the second half, our Eagles came out determined to dominate. In the 52nd minute, Wessam curled in a stunning free-kick from outside the box, sending the ball past the goalkeeper to give Al Ahly the lead. Just four minutes later, Hussein El Shahat calmly slotted the ball into the net to extend our lead to 3-1.
The Reds continued to pile on the pressure, and in the 84th minute, Wessam completed his hat-trick with a fantastic strike, leaving the guests’ defense helpless, and just two minutes later, Percy Tau fired the fifth goal as he dribbled the ball before rifling it into the back of the net.
The show wasn’t over yet, as in stoppage time, Emam Ashour capped off the victory with a powerful shot into the corner, wrapping up a dominant performance at home.
